President’s Corner – April

This year, we are putting time and effort into getting out and meeting as many businesses and business owners as possible. We’re talking about what we as a board are up to, inviting guest speakers to offer advice, ideas, things to keep an eye on as the economy goes through its changes and how to best prepare your business.

We recently had a great meeting in Nelson, where some members made the effort to drive to Nelson from the West Coast and Blenheim. I had a great night, and it was fantastic to meet some new faces, and some that I had not seen in a while. I am really enjoying being involved in presenting the recognition certificates, it is great to show just how important our members involvement in the association has been over the years.

We are heading to Christchurch next, and I hope there will be a great turnout with some great conversation, advice, and questions to go along with the snacks and refreshing beverages.

The weather is certainly changing and having spent more time in Auckland recently, it is great to be able to get away from the muggy heat of which this last summer provided. I am looking forward to going South to see the Autumnal colours on the trees in the beautiful city of Christchurch.

I want to remind as many people as possible that our conference is coming up later this year, it would be great to see a huge turnout of Association members heading to Napier this June. It is going to be a fantastic event, and it will be fantastic to do our bit for the local economy after the flooding of Cyclone Gabrielle last year. Having spent Easter in Napier recently, driving through the Esk valley, seeing so many houses still empty and broken was just devastating.

There is also the awards dinner, which truly is one of the best evenings for our industry, and a great showpiece to see the incredible work that New Zealand sign shops produce for our many clients. I encourage everyone to look at their works from the last 12 months, put in some entries, and make the effort to attend the dinner function. But please do this pretty quick, the entries close soon. Check out our online timelines for the closing dates.

I am looking forward to seeing as many people in Napier as possible!

Until next time,
