15 Sign Shops Recognised as Master Tradesmen at National Awards

Fifteen sign shops were presented with their official Master Sign Maker plaques at the 2025 NZ Sign Display Awards of Excellence on 14 June.

The new accreditation was launched in early 2025 and stands as a symbol of true excellence in craftsmanship and business practices within the signage industry. There are currently 17 Master Sign Makers throughout New Zealand, ten of whom were amongst the very first to receive the accreditation during its conception, and seven new Masters who have completed the new pathway this year. Each sign maker was presented with their official accreditation plaque at the recent awards ceremony in Nelson.

Logan Sutton, the President of the NZ Sign & Display Association, and one of the masterminds behind the new accreditation pathway, shared that the accreditation is “about setting a standard for excellence and professionalism and about showing the world what it really means to be a great sign maker in New Zealand.” He stated that those who have achieved that pathway, “don’t just make great signs, but also run great sign businesses, and give so much back to our industry – and that’s what it’s all about!”

“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make sure this accreditation is something that can scale and grow. Our vision is to build and promote a network of Master Sign Makers right across the country – something that gives clients real confidence in who they’re choosing to work with, and that raises the bar for all of us.”

All 17 businesses to receive the title have clearly displayed craftsmanship, commitment to learning, and top-notch business practices, earning themselves this prestigious title.

The accreditation pathway is robust and requires serious commitment. Designed to foster connections, encourage learning through craft, and share knowledge, the new pathway maximises resources and opportunities within the NZSDA community.
