The NZSDA holds many regional and national events throughout the year. All provide great opportunities to engage and learn from established leaders and network in a community of likeminded industry peers. The sign makers conference has been our longest and most valued running event for almost 60 years. It is an event that many of our members look forward to each year.
The NZ Sign Expo, known as New Zealand’s biggest graphics, sign and display event, has had great exposure, and is well loved by the industry. The expo debuted in Auckland in 2013 and has been held every second year since. In 2023 we made the decision to collaborate with the Print NZ Association due to the increasing crossover between the industries. Due to this, the event was retitled as the NZ Sign + Print Expo.
The NZ Sign Display Awards is our national flagship event, a prestigious celebration recognizing excellence in the industry. Through the awards we acknowledge outstanding design and craftsmanship across a broad range of sign-making methods and technologies. Each year the overall level of entries is high, and competition is fierce.
A standout award is the Young Apprentice of the Year, which celebrates commitment, work ethics and attitude in those completing the NZ Sign Making Certificate. Over recent years we have also introduced notable awards, which stand outside of the general entries, to acknowledge individuals and businesses that excel in sustainable and innovative practices, community and industry leadership, and commitment to learning and training at a high level.
